The Synchronous Moon

Standard

So, last night was full of synchronicity.  I was leading a guided meditation and at one point deep into the visualization, I asked everyone to open the inner doors that they normally keep shut to their True Souls.  I asked them to notice the intense beauty–just like when a blue bird opens her wings to dart into the grasses–it’s stunning.  At that moment, as if on cue, someone outside must have noticed the full moon rising, because she exclaimed, “Oh, it’s so beautiful!” Our souls are stunningly beautiful when we catch glimpse of them, or let someone in so close that it takes our breath away.

I made myself get out of bed at 1:30 in the morning last night, and it was worth it.  The sight of the blood moon eclipse was otherworldly.  I could have been living on some faraway planet.  I bundled up and stepped out to our backyard.  I needed to commune with the moon as she cleansed herself of anger and fear and unforgiveness–as she went into the red of the darkness and was wrung clean.  She seemed to emerge brighter than ever after the clearing was over.  She was so brave, to let go and trust the process.

While I was outside, I said prayers of forgiveness.  I could feel the Angels literally reaching into our hearts; clearing out, wringing out the old and the dead; preparing us for expressions of Joy we can’t even yet imagine.  And I spoke aloud blessings for all my loved ones, and especially for the earth:  “May we forgive all that is done and undone.  May we know true happiness.  May our earth have love.”  As I spoke these last words, in that very moment, a shooting star fell underneath the moon.  My wish for love for our planet was granted.  Isn’t it stunningly beautiful when, like the moon, we are brave enough to let go and be cleared out, trusting the dark phase, so that we can be renewed and set free to let forth even more of our true light?

Swinging With My Angel

“In fact, all babies see angels and spirits, but at about the time children start to talk they begin to be told what’s real and what’s not real, and so if things are not solid like their toys, then they are told that they are only pretend. Young children are conditioned and lose the ability to see and experience spiritual things.  Because education starts earlier nowadays, fewer people are talking to angels….”  -Lorna Byrne in Angels in My Hair:  The True Story of a Modern-Day Irish Mystic

Yesterday, I was pushing a young friend of mine on a swing.  She and I have an easy way of communicating with each other, though her speech is limited to “up” and “bye-bye” and simple utterances like that.  The swing next to her was empty but she insisted, with an “up” and much pointing that I push that swing also.  I began to wonder who was sitting there…was it her guardian angel?  I imagined her looking a lot like my companion, only with wings.  I thought she would be laughing as we were, swinging gayly.  Any time the swing slowed, the young one would notice, and point, “up, up!”  Yes, my dear, up up and away!

Then, I flashed back to my days swinging alone-but not alone-out in the country in Iowa.  The swing set faced a sweeping valley.  And if you were turned toward the wide open country, you could soar.  My dear friend Leo would swing with me.  Though he was a lion, I saw nothing strange about this.  He was as real as anything else I saw in this world-maybe more so.  I don’t remember him showing himself to me again, but on the swing, I could see his golden mane perfectly.  I felt him with me a good while, maybe until I went to kindergarten.

Dearest parents, give your children time to dream in the daylight!  Give spaciousness to their days, allowing for alone time and silence. Let the breeze be their companion, their play date!  They will feel their angels then.  And give just an inkling of imagination to this thought:  “What if their angels are real?  What if I could see them?”  Just this thought will create space for them to know that what they are seeing IS REAL.

Naming Spirit

What if we could meet our own spirit the way they learned to meet this beautiful and wise black leopard? The leopard asks, through a very talented animal communicator, what all of our souls would ask of us and those around us…

Spirit’s Manifesto:

2. Demand nothing of me
3. See me for what I truly am
4. Speak to me with respect
5. Know that I mean you no harm
6. Listen to me

Why Do I See 444 all the Time?

Standard
The spiritual world sometimes uses numbers to get our attention.  Have you noticed that you’ll see a certain time, or a certain set of numbers on a license plate repeatedly.  This really IS a significant sign that you can take interest in!  Each number has meaning because of its sacred geometrical vibration.
I had a friend ask me recently for the “Cliff’s Notes” on number meanings, so here they are for you to play with!  Let me know what you see in the world, now that you will be more attuned, and how the meaning figures into your life….
  • 1-You are beginning a new Manifestation Cycle in your life. “I am a Creative Force in the Universe.”
  • 2-You are perfectly balanced in Divine Masculine and Feminine Energies. “I am effortlessly bringing Balance into my life.”
  • 3-You are not alone:  the Ascended Masters are with you. “I am calling on the Ascended Masters to pour their wisdom into me now.”
  • 4-The Angels are with you. “I am calling on my Guardian Angels now, giving them permission to work Miracles in my life.”
  • 5-Positive Change is occurring effortlessly right now. “I am invoking the energy of Positive Change to move through my life.”
  • 6-Hold strong to Faith and Hope, as these qualities create more space for Love. “I am making room for the Angels of Faith, feeling them lovingly hold me.”
  • 7-Magic is all around you. “I am open to Magic weaving through my life.”
  • 8-Abundance is streaming through your life. “I am receiving the Abundance of Life.”
  • 9-Something you have been working on manifesting is coming into Fruition. “I am receiving the fruits of Creation.”
  • 10-All is One. “I am interconnected with the Wholeness of all things.”

Call Me By My True Name

The name Spiritual Alchemy came to me while I was dancing, holding the intention that a special name come to me for what I have somehow known, but only unconsciously lived all my life: the practice of taking in energy, reading it and transforming it through my loving intention. Just today, in reading Wayne Dyer’s I Can See Clearly Now, I was astounded—utterly taken aback—to read a passage by him where he identified the pure essence of my work. As he wrote of the power of forgiveness, he “happened” to say: “Indeed we send love in response to hate and become spiritual alchemists.” That’s it, I thought! That’s exactly, in its simplest form, what my work aims to do! And coming from a great teacher like Dr. Dyer, I’m pleased to hear it named thus!

May we all find the quickest, easiest path to LOVE and in so doing become transformers of all that is around us. The honey bees need our love so that their fate is transformed from doom to miracle; the children need our love that they may be empowered to live their true purposes; the clerk at the store needs our love that she may feel, even if just for that moment, Seen; we need our own love that we may stop simply surviving and move to a new understanding of Life as a grand opportunity in every moment to Thrive.

Welcome to this invitation for exploring your own life as an Empowered Thriving Alchemist!

What’s in a Name?

Standard

In 1969, my father became a Conscientious Objector during the Vietnam War, knowing he was morally unable to kill another human being. As a CO, my dad was required to serve domestically for two years, so we found ourselves–me as a developing being inside my mother’s body, and my young hippie parents–living in a deaconess home for children, which housed those who had been taken away from their own parents for one reason or another. My mom and dad became the house parents for all of the boys.

During this time in Montana, my parents went once to a hunger march, where there were many speakers. One of them was a spunky woman named Rosalie Sorrels. She was a folk singer, friends with Pete Seeger. My parents were touched by what she said, and since mom was 8 months pregnant with me, she went out to relax under a big pine tree. Dreamily, she received the message that I was to be named after the folk singer, and, further, a book cover was shown to her and she saw my name, Sorel Haruf, written on the side of the book. The name was perfectly balanced with r’s in the middle and 5 letters each. My name and indeed, what I achieve with this identity, have always seemed somehow Divinely chosen.

What is the story of your own name, if you care to share it? How is it significant for you? Do you get the sense that people are calling you by your True Name; that they are truly Seeing you?

She Had to be Called Madeline…

Standard

Skip now to my own pregnancy with my daughter. I knew I was having a girl, after 6 dreams told me so. I knew also that she would be strong, so strong, because I dreamed about her soul in a life as a tribesman in Africa. She was the last remaining survivor in her tribe, and as the warring tribe came for her up over the hill, she decided to die by her own spear rather than give them the satisfaction of taking her life.

So, her father and I could not agree upon a name for such a strong soul. He was convinced that she had to be called Madeline, but it being one of the top 50 names of 2003, I would not agree to it. Her name had to be unique. And so, at an impass, I told her father and anyone who asked that it would come to us in a dream.

Indeed, her father received this dream. In it, she was being passed around in the airport and her father told everyone that her name was Mayla, only he received 2 spellings of this name: one was the spelling we chose (“Mayla”), and the other was “Maela.” I liked it immediately and, looking it up in the baby name book, I discovered that though “Mayla” was not listed, under the second spelling, it said “See Madeline.” This unique name was a nickname for the very one that her dad had wanted for her! What an amazingly creative compromise to both of our desires. Her rightful name had indeed come to us as an inspired dictate.
